Symbols and Notations is asked in MBA CET exam for about 5 marks. The questions are of moderate level and can be solved without spending much time. 
- > stands for greater than
- < stands for less than
- = stands for equal to
Example: If * means /, – means *, / means + and + means -, then (3 – 15 / 19) * 8 + 6 = ?
Solution: Substituting vaues we get, (3 * 15 + 19) / 8 – 6 = (45 + 19) / 8 – 6 = 64 / 8 – 6 = 8 – 6 = 2
3 Types of Questions
Type 1: A $ B means ‘A is the father of B’, A & B means ‘A is the sister of B’ – followed with options from which similar relation has to be found.
Type 2: ‘/’ means ‘x’, ’x’ means ‘+‘, ‘+‘ means ‘=’, ‘=’ means ‘*’, then find the value of 16 = 4 + 2 x 8 * 2.
Type 3: X ^ Y means X is to the North of Y at a distance of 1 km.
X # Y means X is to the East of Y at a distance of 2 km.
