MBA Vs PGDM Vs MMS – Which is better?
Every year I get this query on the difference between MBA, PGDM and MMS. I have already uploaded a dedicated video on the same which you must watch after reading this article.
Let me clear this confusion in the simplest way possible.
The management degree given by any University is coined as MBA i.e Masters of Business Administration.
Examples: All the colleges affiliated with state universities provide MBA degrees.
Private universities like NMIMS, Symbiosis, Sri Balaji University, etc. provide MBA degrees.
The management degree given by Mumbai University is called MMS i.e Masters in Management Studies.
- PGDM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management
- PGDBM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management
- PGDBA stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration
PGDM, PGDBM, PGDBA, PGPM, etc. are diploma courses provided by colleges or institutes that are not autonomous and not affiliated with any university. The course duration is of 2 years. Most of them are AICTE approved.
In India, the recruiters hardly differentiate between MBA/MMS & PGDM students during the placement process. If a student wishes to apply for PhD then preference should be given to University Degree.
