CAT 2024 Books
The 4 books written by Arun Sharma are considered to be the best books for CAT 2024 preparation.
- How to Prepare for Quantitative Aptitude for the CAT
- How to Prepare for Logical Reasoning for CAT
- How to Prepare for Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension for the CAT
- How to Prepare for Data Interpretation for CAT
First of all, you should understand the mindset behind purchasing books for offline study.
- Of course for conceptual clarity and practice
- Whatever you read online on different websites etc., you have to write down notes for preparation purpose. A hardcover book is always handy against straining your eyes on gadgets
- A book will help you to swap between topics very easily
The total cost including all books(Arun Sharma) is Rs. 2200+
If you find the cost of books on the higher side then you can involve a friend who is also preparing for the CAT test. Both of you contribute and purchase – Smart Work.
If you have coaching material from IMS, TIME, Career Launcher, etc. then the same is sufficient for preparation.

In order to excel in the RC section, one must accept the fact that a lot of reading hours are required.
You can read Newspapers, Novels, Magazines etc. You must allocate at least 45 minutes from your daily schedule to the reading activity.
The RC passages in the actual CAT test stretch to a good length and in order to solve them, you must retain the information you read. This retention ability will not develop overnight. Besides retention, there are tons of benefits from reading daily.
CAT 2024 will be dominated by a lot of RC passages and it’s definitely an exhausting section as you have to concentrate a lot.
In addition to offline reading, I would personally request everyone to carry out the reading activity on screens like smartphones, laptops etc. The actual CAT paper would be on Computer Screen so do develop a habit of reading on screen.

This can be a painful section for engineers as well as non-engineers. The past question papers show the ability of the Quant section to ruin the happiness of CAT aspirants with its level of difficulty.
The plan for Quant is very simple:
- Understand the concept
- Practice the concept questions without a timer
- Sectional mocks to explore strong and weak areas

DILR, again a mate who ruins the complete game but definitely not an uncertain section. You can be very obvious about your scoring ability in Quant and DILR with practice sessions.
CAT test couples up DI and LR to bring up some interesting sets that have a practical orientation. You can master the DILR section with a good hold on calculation tricks and solving different varieties of DILR sets.
Remember, it will require patience to handle this section because some sets will seem to be like out of this universe.
